Ideal for secure, battery-powered IoT devices, the microcontroller family is designed for installation in a wide range of IoT applications, including industrial IoT, smart home equipment, household appliances, and wearable medical devices.
The PSoC 6 microcontroller family architecture is based on 40nm ultra-low-power processing technology and dual-core Arm® Cortex®-M4 and Cortex®-M0+ processors, enabling engineers to optimize the performance and power consumption of their solutions. Furthermore, the microcontrollers offer user-friendly, software-defined peripherals and integrated security features necessary for use in IoT devices.
Key features of this family include up to 1MB of memory capacity and 288KB of SRAM connectivity, Bluetooth® Low Energy 5.0, and Cypress's CapSense® capacitive sensing technology for robust and reliable gesture-based device interfaces.
Furthermore, crucial for the next generation of secure IoT devices, the architecture offers a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) with secure boot and data storage capabilities to protect firmware, applications, and other sensitive assets. The microcontrollers implement a wide range of industry-standard cryptographic algorithms, such as ECC, AES, and SHA 1, 2, and 3, all within an integrated hardware coprocessor.
Other features of the family include: PDM-PCM interface and Quad-SPI interfaces; high-speed USB connectivity, as well as nine serial communication blocks, seven programmable analog blocks and 56 programmable digital blocks.
RS offers a complete set of complementary development kits for design engineers to develop prototypes using the microcontrollers. Among others:
- Pioneer PSoC® 6 WiFi-BT Kit (CY8CKIT-062-WIFI-BT), a low-cost hardware platform that enables the development and debugging of the PSoC 62 microcontroller and the Murata LBEE5KL1DX module (based on the Cypress CYW4343 combo chip).
- Pioneer CY8CKIT-062-BLE PSoC 6 IoT Kit, a general-purpose PSoC 6 kit with the PSoC 63 microcontroller and compliant with BLE 5.0.
