M3H Microcontrollers based on ARM® Cortex®-M3 for motor control and power consumption devices
Toshiba Electronics Europe has announced a series of new microcontrollers (MCUs) based on the ARM® Cortex®-M3 core. The M3H microcontrollers are the first product group in the new TXZ™ family and are Toshiba's first MCUs manufactured with an embedded flash memory process based on the 65 nm logic process.
The products in this group are well-suited for use in various industrial and consumer applications, such as motor control, consumer AV devices, and office automation equipment.
The M3H group is based on the ARM Cortex-M core, the recognized standard for 32-bit embedded microprocessors, and incorporates high-performance analog circuitry and a wide range of core functions necessary to support comprehensive motor control, consumer device, and industrial device applications. The range includes low-pin-count packages (32 to 100 pins) and small flash memory sizes (32 KB to 128 KB). The devices operate at speeds up to 40 MHz.
Integrated features include a high-precision 12-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with a conversion speed of 1.5 µs and an 8-bit ADC. The M3H group also features a Toshiba programmable motor driver (PMD) suitable for inverter motor control, including AC and BLDC motor control; and versatile general-purpose peripheral circuitry including UART, I2C, TSPI, and timers. The incorporation of these high-precision analog circuits and general-purpose peripheral circuits allows the M3H group to achieve both low power characteristics and high-level functionality.
