These new 28-pin microcontrollers offer a combination of advanced digital and analog peripherals, as well as XLP technology, to extend battery life as required by numerous applications. Due to their characteristics, the PIC16F1512/13 general-purpose microcontrollers are ideal for a wide variety of applications in home appliances, medical devices, consumer electronics, and automotive, among many other markets. In addition to leading the market with active current starting at 30 µA/MHz and sleep current starting at 20 nA, these microcontrollers integrate a 17x10-bit A/D converter, EUSART, I2C™/SPI, two capture-and-compare PWMs, 7 KB of Flash memory, and 256 KB of RAM.
Compared to other models in the PIC16F151X family, these two new devices offer enhanced analog capabilities, including a 10-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with support for a capacitive voltage divider (CVD) to implement mTouch™ capacitive touch sensing. Built-in control logic enables automatic touch sampling, reducing software size and CPU usage. It also provides automatic shield ring control and programmable sample-and-hold capability to better accommodate larger touch or proximity sensors.
The PIC16F1512/13 microcontrollers are supported by all standard Microchip development tools, including the Integrated Development Environment (IDE) such as the F1 Evaluation Platform (DM164130-1) priced at $39.99 and the F1 Evaluation Kit (DV164132) priced at $69.99, which includes PICkit™ 3. The Compiler is also available. The PIC16F1512 and PIC16F1513 microcontrollers are supplied for sampling and volume production in SSOP, SOIC, 28-pin SPDIP, and 4 x 4 x 0.5 mm UQFN packages.
