Microchip's XLP technology is designed for wearables, wireless sensor networks, and other smart connected devices, offering low-current active and sleep operating modes that occupy 90% to 99% of the time in ultra-low-power applications. XLP technology will enable the addition of Sleep and Deep Sleep low-power modes to PIC32MX1/2 XLP devices, reducing Deep Sleep currents to as low as 673 nA. These devices offer a 40% performance increase over the existing PCI32MX1/2 portfolio and a 50% reduction in active currents.
The PIC32MX1/2 XLP family offers various memory configurations with 128/256 KB of Flash and 32/64 KB of RAM in 28- to 44-pin packages. They also incorporate a wide range of low-cost peripherals, including I2S for digital audio, 116 DMIPS for running audio applications and advanced control, a 10-bit, 1 Msps, 13-channel A/D converter, and serial communication peripherals. The PIC32MX2 series also supports USB device, host, and OTG connectivity.
In addition to the hardware peripherals' functionality, the series is supported by Microchip's MPLAB® Harmony software development environment, which simplifies development cycles by integrating Microchip's licensing, resale, and support, as well as third-party middleware, drivers, libraries, and real-time operating systems. Specifically, Microchip's readily available software packages, such as Bluetooth® audio development packages, audio equalizer filter libraries, decoders (including AAC, MP3, and SBC), sample rate conversion libraries, and USB stacks, will rapidly reduce development time for digital audio, consumer, industrial, and general embedded control applications.
Development Support
