The built-in KS0073 controller (similar to the HD44780) manages communications with the outside world very simply. In addition to displaying 240 alphanumeric characters, the unit can also show 16 icons, such as arrows or technical symbols, which greatly simplifies the operation of the equipment on which the display is installed. System developers can also define up to eight custom symbols that can be stored and displayed as alphanumeric characters. The display has a parallel data bus and an SPI port for data transfer with the control circuitry.
The EA DIP204-6 module is extremely compact (only 75 millimeters wide). It requires no complicated installation, as the unit can be soldered directly onto the PCB. The display simply connects to a female connector. A single voltage supplies power to the module, including the LED illumination. With an operating temperature range of -20°C to +70°C, the display is designed to withstand harsh conditions. Automatic temperature compensation ensures the display remains clear and easily readable even under varying temperature conditions.
The EA DIP128-6, with a resolution of 128 x 64 pixels, is a graphics-enabled alternative to the EA DIP204-6. It is supplied in the same housing as the EA DIP204-6.
