Chip Volta has announced preliminary specifications for the CV-PMIC-48A, a multi-output power management integrated circuit (PMIC) designed for automotive electronic modules powered by 12V systems. The solution combines five regulated outputs in a 5 × 5 mm QFN-32 package, aiming to reduce the number of discrete components required in the primary power distribution.
The CV-PMIC-48A supports an operating input voltage of 4.5 to 40 V and is designed to tolerate load dump transients of up to 45 V. It incorporates two buck converters, with maximum output currents of 3 and 2 A, respectively, and three low-dropout linear regulators (LDO), up to 300 mA each.
Its features include programmable power-on and power-off sequencing, a window watchdog timer, and a reset controller. These functions allow for the coordination of different power lines and the monitoring of electronic module operation. The preliminary datasheet specifies a typical quiescent current of 28 µA, a typical maximum efficiency of 94%, and a junction temperature range of −40 to +150 °C.
The manufacturer identifies the main applications as body control modules, gateway ECUs, instrument clusters, and telematics systems or telematics control units (TCUs).
The CV-PMIC-48A comes in a 5 × 5 mm QFN-32 package with a 0.50 mm pitch. Chip Volta states that its quality management system is certified by Bureau Veritas.
