Stainless steel housing and push-pull locking mechanism
CMA connectors utilize a stainless steel housing and a push-pull locking mechanism. This system allows for connection and disconnection via an axial mechanism, keeping the connector securely in place during use. The series also features breakaway configurations for equipment requiring rapid disconnection when a specific separation force is applied.
This type of configuration can be used in portable systems, tactical equipment, and other applications where it is necessary to quickly detach the cable from the device.
360° ground ring for electromagnetic compatibility
For applications with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements, the connectors incorporate a 360° grounding ring. Its function is to maintain electrical continuity between the housings of the connected assembly and the grounding point. This design is intended to reduce the influence of electromagnetic interference on transmitted signals and to facilitate shielding of the interconnection system.
This feature is especially relevant in equipment that operates near radio transmitters, power electronic systems, or other potential sources of electromagnetic interference.
IP68 protection, connected and disconnected
The CMA series is IP68 rated both when the connectors are connected and disconnected. This rating provides protection against dust ingress and water ingress under the conditions specified for IP68. Connector protection when disconnected can be important for equipment that is temporarily left without certain peripherals or cables connected and remains exposed to the environment.
