The new devices provide high read and write speeds and are designed for various mobile applications, including next-generation phones. KIOXIA's new devices utilize a next-generation UFS (MIPI M-PHY 5.0), which has a theoretical interface speed of up to 23.2 Gbps per lane (2 lanes = 46.4 Gbps) in HS-Gear5 mode. The sequential read and write performance of the 256 GB device has been improved by 90 and 70 percent, respectively, compared to previous-generation devices[5]. Furthermore, the random read and write performance of the 256 GB device has been improved by 35 and 60 percent, respectively, compared to previous-generation devices[5]. This new generation of UFS delivers significantly higher performance, enabling next-generation phones and other products to enhance their features and user experiences in the 5G era and beyond. “This advancement in UFS will boost the performance and features of the next generation of mobile applications, such as phones and other products. With this industry-first device featuring integrated UFS flash memory, KIOXIA is once again underscoring its leading position and commitment to the development of UFS memory,” said Axel Stoermann, Vice President of SSD Marketing and Engineering at KIOXIA Europe GmbH.
