The SP1255P series integrates three channels of ultra-low capacitance steering diodes with a low-voltage TVS diode to provide maximum ESD protection for USB data and ID terminals, compliant with IEC 61000-4-2. With a dynamic resistance of only 0.3Ω, they deliver clamping voltages up to 23% lower than similar silicon solutions. For Vbus protection, a 12V overcurrent protection device is included; this device protects against high-speed surges of up to 100A generated by lightning strikes on the USB Vbus line.
Typical applications for the SP1255P series include ESD protection for smartphones, tablets, and other portable electronic devices.
“The SP1255P Series offers a new approach to protecting the charging functions of tablets and smartphones against high-current surges, whether caused by natural phenomena or erratic power grids,” said Chad Marak, product line manager for TVS Diode Array. “Their space-saving footprint and low profile make them ideal for ESD protection applications in many portable electronics where board space is at a premium.”
The SP1255P Series of low-capacity ESD protection TVS diode arrays offers these key benefits:
• Low dynamic resistance of 0.3Ω provides clamping voltages up to 23% lower than other similar silicon solutions, offering superior protection for current-intensive applications such as fast-charging peripherals.
• Robust ESD capability for Vbus or USB data terminal protection allows manufacturers to provide ESD protection exceeding the levels set by IEC standards.
• The small µDFN-6 package size (1.8 x 2.0 x 0.55 mm) simplifies PCB layout by allowing signals to run directly beneath the device without the need for sub-signals that could cause signal degradation.
• Automotive quality qualification (AEC-Q101) ensures maximum reliability in the harshest environments.
