The new ZS series not only expands the capacitance range and doubles the ripple current capacity, but also has a rated endurance of 4000 hours at 125°C. The ZS series brings new package sizes, maintaining the same footprint (ø10 mm) and introducing 12 mm lengths in addition to 10x16 mm.

Developed with the automotive industry in mind, the ZS series devices range from 25 V to 63 V, with a capacitance range up to 560 µF, an even lower ESR down to 11 mΩ, and a 4-arm ripple current. In addition to saving space, the lower ESR and higher ripple improve DC link and filter circuitry in powertrain and automotive control applications. The new series further enhances the potential of hybrid conductive polymer capacitors as effective replacements for the larger, hard-to-find, and soon-to-be-phased-out MLCCs, offering a reliable and proven alternative to lithium capacitors in tighter spaces or tantalum capacitors in high-frequency circuits. All ZS series products are fully RoHS and REACH compliant, as well as AECQ-200 compliant.

Yusuke Nagata, Panasonic's Product Marketing Director, comments: “The smaller size of the ZS series allows for higher performance while keeping premium PCB space under control with only a few millimeters of height margin. At the 63V line level, the 10x12.5 package size of the ZS series offers a 100µF capacitor, which is one of the highest capacitance values currently available in this class, and there is already significant customer interest due to the charge-discharge requirements of 48V battery systems.”.
