The TCKE9 series of 25V high-voltage eFuse ICs offers two product types: an auto-retry type that allows the eFuse IC to automatically recover the circuit itself, and a latch type that recovers via an external signal. Two different blocking voltage levels are available: 3.8V and 5.7V.
The current-limiting and voltage-blocking functions of the TCKE9 series protect the circuit against overcurrent and overvoltage conditions, which is not possible with conventional physical fuses. Even if an abnormal overcurrent or overvoltage is applied, the specified current and voltage can be maintained. In addition, the new products offer over-temperature and short-circuit protection functions to protect the circuit by immediately disconnecting it when abnormal heat is generated or an unexpected short circuit occurs.
Another advantage is that eFuse ICs eliminate complex circuit design and a number of components, resulting in much simpler circuit designs with fewer components and a smaller footprint than protection functions achieved with discrete parts. As Toshiba aims to obtain IEC 62368-1 certification, the international safety standard for ICT and AV equipment, eFuse ICs will also simplify and accelerate the certification testing process for end-user equipment.
The TCKE9 series is available in a slim and compact WSON8 package measuring 2.0 × 2.0 mm (typ.), t = 0.8 mm (max.). Shipments of the new products begin today.
