minivariator-cfw100-wThe CFW100 units are among the smallest frequency converters currently available, offering users a wide range of applications.

These mini frequency converters with integrated micro-PLCs are particularly well-suited for simple technical applications in the commercial and consumer sectors, such as swimming pool pumps, motorized hospital beds, elevator doors, gym equipment, small fans, mixers, and special-purpose machines. With this combination of extensive functionality and an extremely small size, the CFW100 is easy to integrate into cabinets and machinery. This provides users with a particularly compact and cost-effective solution for controlling the speed of three-phase induction motors.

Along with the integrated micro-PLC, which supports IEC 61131-3 compliant programming, the CFW100 includes an intuitive human-machine interface (HMI) with an LCD screen. The plug-and-play design of the new frequency converter greatly simplifies installation and commissioning. As part of the CFW100 modular platform architecture, WEG offers several pluggable base terminals, including USB and Modbus RTU communication interfaces, for easy access to major fieldbus systems such as Modbus, DeviceNet, and CANopen. Expansion modules are also available to enable remote control of the device using an HMI/keyboard or an infrared remote control. An optional flash memory card with integrated cut-and-paste functions allows parameter data to be conveniently saved and transferred. A Bluetooth connection can also be implemented with a pluggable accessory module. The low-maintenance design also includes a simple, replaceable ventilation module for the B and C size units.

The CFW100 operates three-phase motors from a 200 V to 240 V (50/60 Hz) single-phase power supply. It has an overload capacity of 150% of the rated current for a 60-second interval every 10 minutes. Support is offered for voltage vector control (VVC) and V/f characteristic curve control for three-phase induction motors. The CFW100 features electronic thermal protection to prevent motor overheating and comes standard with four digital inputs, expandable via a plug-in expansion module. The housing achieves an IP20 protection rating, and the mini frequency converter can be used in ambient temperatures up to 50°C without performance degradation. Another advantage is the SuperDrive G2 installation software, which is available as a free download from the WEG website.
