"The Kinetix VPC servo motor delivers high continuous torque at high speeds for extended periods," explains David Rajala, product manager at Rockwell Automation. "Inside, permanent magnets weaken the magnetic field, reducing electromagnetic resistance so a machine can continuously carry loads well above the motor's rated speeds. This allows manufacturers to keep lines and winders running at high speeds and constant power.".

The fan and cooling fins on the motor provide increased torque and power output. Furthermore, the encoder options, with improved resolution and accuracy, facilitate more precise and responsive control, which is especially valuable for the printing industry.

The Kinetix VPC servo motor uses larger, more robust bearings to improve L10 bearing life by up to 60%. An optional single wire for power and feedback helps reduce installation, setup, and maintenance time compared to dual-wire motors. Additionally, the quick-change fan can be field-replaced, helping to maintain maximum machine uptime.

The new motor line meets or exceeds IE4 efficiency ratings.
Rockwell Automation has designed an integrated foot-mount option for the Kinetix VPC motor, offering an alternative to the traditional flange-mount method.

The Kinetix VPC servomotor is designed for use only with the Kinetix 5700 servo drive and its functionality with other units is planned to be evaluated in the future.

As part of Rockwell Automation's Integrated Architecture platform, the Kinetix VPC servo motor and Kinetix 5700 drive are programmed using the Rockwell Software Studio 5000 design environment.
