The PSE is a wireless, real-time patient monitoring system that creates and uses data to give nursing staff more time to care for their patients and increase the likelihood of saving their lives by providing early warnings of potentially life-threatening events.
The PSE uses wearable wireless sensors, including the Lifetouch cardiac sensor (smart patch) and the Lifetemp continuous temperature sensor, to automatically collect and analyze patients' heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation levels, and blood pressure in real time. In addition, nursing staff can add other measurements to produce a comprehensive map of vital signs. This information is used to automatically calculate an early warning score. If a patient's health begins to deteriorate, the system will alert nursing staff so they can act immediately. This allows healthcare providers to deliver a high level of safe, data-driven care based on continuous analysis, eliminating the need for manual, intermittent monitoring. The PSE platform is highly flexible, enabling care to be delivered outside of hospital walls with continuous, real-time data and predictive alerts for patients at home or in community care settings.
The PSE is a fully certified CE Class IIa and FDA Class II medical device.
Isansys is now collaborating with Ricardo to explore optimizing its manufacturing processes, including design considerations for manufacturing and assembly, as well as supply chain development and management. Ricardo has extensive experience in processes ranging from design to manufacturing and assembly to supply chain development. In addition to producing a wide range of complex products, including engines, transmission systems, and drivetrains for high-performance automobiles, Ricardo also manufactures precision parts for a variety of other industries, including aerospace and defense.
The first stage of the collaboration between Isansys and Ricardo has focused on a comprehensive review of the existing production process for the PSE. Ricardo's manufacturing specialists have reviewed the details of current operations, identifying how bottlenecks can be addressed and how end-of-line assembly and testing processes can be made more efficient. The next stage, now underway, focuses on implementing the identified measures, with the goal of improving efficiency and reducing assembly time. This work includes an examination of the supply chain and the assembly line within Isansys.
Beyond the current collaboration, Isansys and Ricardo also plan to explore potential longer-term improvements, including a Design for Assembly assessment of the current product, as well as broader development and supply chain management issues.
