The monitors combine detailed 4K resolution, HDR (High Dynamic Range), and Sony's unique local dimming panel technology to enhance visibility through superior control and accurate reproduction of highlights and shadows, along with support for both 3D and 2D. Powerful features include improved image quality for greater contrast and reduced halos around blood and tissue structures, new interface options, updated image enhancement technology, and an easy-to-integrate design.
The new monitors feature a detailed 4K (3840 x 2160) image resolution compatible with 2D and 3D signals from standard definition (SD) or high definition (HD) sources, thanks to their efficient upscaling capabilities. They utilize Sony's unique local dimming panel technology to achieve high levels of brightness[i] and contrast ratio[ii]. They also support HDR when receiving HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) signals from a compatible imaging system, by selecting HLG signals in the monitor's gamma setting mode, to enhance visibility through greater control and accurate reproduction of highlights and shadows. The advanced LCD panel and signal processing technology of the new models enable exceptionally uniform and accurate reproduction of a wide color gamut (compliant with ITU-R BT.2020).
Furthermore, the monitors minimize glare, resulting in sharp, high-contrast images, even in brightly lit operating rooms. With the addition of HD and 4K 3D visualization, the LMD-XH550MT and LMD-XH320MT models can enhance gradation, texture, depth of field, immersion, and color expression—all critical data in a surgical environment. These new monitors also incorporate AIMET™ (Advanced Image Multiple Enhancer) technology for improved structure, color, contrast, and shadows.
They are compatible for making connections with a range of inputs, including SDI (12G/3G), display port, HDMI, DVI-D and AC/DC input (available on the LMD-XH320MT model), which means that these new monitors are ideal for integration into operating rooms.
The LMD-HX550MT and LMD-XH320MT monitors can display 3D and 2D signals in HD and 4K. Multiple picture modes are supported, including split-screen, Picture-in-Picture (PIP), Picture-out-of-Picture (POP), and 180-degree image rotation. 3D PIP/POP multi-image display options include two screens with a primary 3D/2D image and a secondary 2D image, or three screens with three 2D images.
Furthermore, the monitor output cloning function allows simultaneous viewing on a secondary monitor with various settings enabled, such as AIME or PIP, which is extremely useful for surgical training. This also allows users to easily record the same content they are viewing. The resolution of the cloned output can be selected as 4K or HD depending on the application.
The new models offer a smooth surface and an optimized rear shape for easily wiping liquids and gels from the LCD panel, control buttons, and back cover, ensuring a high standard of cleanliness and disinfection. The monitors also feature intuitive navigation and easy-to-install cabling, as well as a foot pedal remote control via a stereo mini-jack for hands-free menu access.
