With development kits, appropriate software libraries, and code samples, engineers can quickly evaluate device capabilities and demonstrate initial product features and functions.
The following are among the new development kits available from Mouser:
The Microchip Technology Curiosity WBZ451 board is an efficient prototyping platform for the Microchip WBZ451PE, which combines Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE) and a 2.4 GHz Zigbee® RF module. The board is powered via USB or a Li-Po battery and includes a user LED, a user-configurable switch, and an RGB LED connected to a PWM output. This well-equipped board also includes other Microchip ICs, such as the MCP73871 lithium-ion or Li-Po battery charger, the MCP9700A low-power temperature sensor, and the SST26VF064B 64 MB external QSPi flash memory. The integrated programmer uses the Microchip SAME70 microcontroller, and peripheral sensors or ICs can be added via the board's mikroBUS connector.
For prototyping LPWAN LoRa designs, the Connected Development XCVR SX126xreference design and development board is a cost-effective, proven, and efficient development platform for evaluating the Semtech SX126x 915 MHz sub-GHz transceiver. This LoRa transceiver, suited to a wide range of IoT use cases from smart meters to agricultural sensors, offers an exceptional 170 dB link budget and programmable connection speeds from 62.5 to 300 kbps. It provides a receive sensitivity of up to -148 dBm and switchable transmit power of +15 or +22 dBm. For ease of prototyping, the XCVR SX126x is packaged on an Arduino Uno shield. Compatible software includes devices from Nordic Semiconductor (Zephyr and MBED) and the Silicon Labs BG21 series of BLE SoCs.
Security has become a vital aspect of any IoT application, and the Infineon Technologies OPTIGA™ Trust M IoT provides embedded system developers with the ability to assess and prototype comprehensive security for IoT use cases. The board, comprised of the Infineon OPTIGA Trust M security integrated circuit, an Infineon PSoC 62 Arm Cortex-M4/M0 microcontroller, and the Infineon AIROC CYW43012 low-power wireless transceiver with Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth 5.0, includes two out-of-the-box IoT security examples. Prototypes can also be created for other use cases, such as IP protection, cryptographic operation offloading, and secure firmware updates. Application examples include smart door locks, smart lighting, and industrial automation.
With the MCSPTE1AK344 motor control development kit from NXP Semiconductor, available from Mouser, automotive engineers can design various control applications for three-phase brushless DC (BLDC) and permanent magnet synchronous (PMSM) motors. Using the Arm Cortex-M7 S32K3 series of 32-bit microcontrollers and a functionally safe FS26 system base IC, designs compliant with the ISO 26262 ASIL D standard can be developed, including active suspensions, electric motor trains, electric turbochargers, and HVAC pumps. The kit includes a low-voltage, three-phase permanent magnet motor and current and position sensors.
