The Microchip AVR-IoT WG evaluation board combines an 8-bit megaAVR® Series 0 microcontroller with a SmartConnect IoT module and a CryptoAuthentication™ device to reduce overall application complexity and enable engineers to quickly add Google Cloud connectivity to new and existing devices. The board also incorporates light and temperature sensors, an embedded programmer and debugger, and built-in battery charging to support a wide range of IoT applications.
The board's Microchip ATmega4808 microcontroller is based on the flexible, low-power AVR architecture, widely recognized as an effective choice for embedded control design. The 20 MHz ATmega4808 features a two-cycle hardware multiplier, 48 KB of flash memory, 6 KB of SRAM, and 256 bytes of EEPROM.
The Microchip ATECC608A is a member of Microchip's CryptoAuthentication family of high-security cryptographic devices that combines world-class hardware key storage with hardware cryptographic accelerators to implement various authentication and encryption protocols. The ATECC608A secure element integrates the ECDH (Elliptic Curve Diffie-Hellman) and ECDSA (Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm) security protocols to protect keys and IP addresses.
The Microchip ATWINC1500 Wi-Fi network controller is specifically optimized for low-power IoT applications. The module offers a complete wireless connectivity solution, supporting the full TCP/IP stack and automatically authenticating server connections to Google Cloud.
