The Microchip Technology Curiosity WBZ451 board, available from Mouser Electronics, is designed for prototyping and demonstrating the capabilities of Microchip's WBZ451PE Bluetooth® Low Energy and Zigbee® RF module. The WBZ451PE module is integrated onto the board, and its signals are easily accessible through the onboard functions. The Curiosity WBZ451 comes pre-configured with a ready-to-use, multi-protocol demo application that includes a temperature sensor, a current meter, and an RGB LED.

The Curiosity WBZ451 board offers integrated programming and debugging capabilities via the PICkit™ Onboard Debugger 4 (PKOB4) interface, requiring only a micro USB cable for power-up and programming. The Curiosity WBZ451 also includes a mikroBUS™ Click™ header, enabling users to expand functionality by connecting to multiple MikroElectronika mikroBUS™ Click Boards™.

The PIC32CX-BZ2 and WBZ45 family consists of a series of low-cost, general-purpose 32-bit microcontrollers and modules for wireless applications. The PIC32CX-BZ2 microcontrollers support multiprotocol wireless interfaces (Bluetooth and Zigbee) and feature a hardware-based security accelerator, a transceiver, and a power management unit (PMU). The RF-certified WBZ45 modules combine the PIC32CX-BZ2 wireless microcontrollers with a PCB or u.FL connector for external antennas.
