The IrDA 4 Click also includes an infrared encoder/decoder, the Microchip MCP2120, which sends and receives serial IR data between the infrared transceiver module and the host MCU.
Click boards follow a modular prototyping add-on board standard invented by MIKROE, which revolutionizes how users add new functionality to development boards. Click boards™ allow design engineers to easily swap peripherals, cutting months of development time. The mikroBUS™ allows any Click board to be instantly connected to a mainboard's microcontroller or microprocessor. Many leading microcontroller companies, such as Microchip, NXP, Infineon, Dialog, STM, Analog Devices, Renesas, and Toshiba, already include the mikroBUS socket on their development boards.
Nebojsa Matic, CEO of MIKROE, comments: "This Click board is the perfect solution for developing short-range communications and data transfer, or for use in environments where radio frequency is problematic."
The IrDA 4 Click is supported by a mikroSDK-compatible library, which includes features that simplify software development. This Click™ board is presented as a fully tested product, ready for use in a system equipped with the mikroBUS™ socket.
