Functionally validated aReady.COM configurations save software engineers time validating and verifying the fundamental software building blocks, enabling them to deploy their software solutions to end systems more quickly and efficiently. Various aReady.COM configurations are available for all congatec COM modules with integrated storage (NVMe) devices based on 13th generation Intel Core processors (codenamed Raptor Lake), Intel Core Ultra, Intel Atom (codenamed Amston Lake), and AMD Ryzen 8000 series.

“We are pleased to unveil our new aReady.COM solution platforms live at Embedded World NA. With aReady.COM, congatec has created one of the highest levels of application readiness for COM modules commercially available on the market. Modules ordered in aReady.com configurations have a validated operating system, hypervisor, and/or IoT software package pre-installed in specific configurations, so engineers can immediately boot up the module to install their applications right out of the box,” said Farhad Sharifi, Managing Director of congatec Americas.

“The advantage of aReady.COM COM modules is that application engineers don’t need to validate the operating system, hypervisor, and/or IoT software packages to ensure seamless compatibility across different modules. This saves time and money in the product development process. In mass production, it reduces the bill of materials, streamlines license, patch, and update management, and all installation and functional testing routines are already completed,” says Dan Demers, Senior Director of Business Development at congatec Americas.
COM modules based on 13th generation Intel Core (codenamed Raptor Lake), Intel Atom (codenamed Amston Lake), and AMD Ryzen 8000 processors are available in various aReady.COM configurations that customers can freely specify.

aReady.COM with OS
The first level of aReady.COM is a pre-installed operating system tailored to the specific COM module. Engineers can choose from various Linux distributions (RT Linux, Ubuntu), as well as Bosch ctrlX OS, and order dedicated OS images adapted to the specific COM configuration and support.

aReady.VT
adds a hardware partition for system consolidation and task separation without interference from the Hypervisor-on-Module. It features individually pre-configured virtual machines ready to host the required OS configurations. Furthermore, the virtual machines can be deployed with the necessary operating systems and, optionally, with IoT software features.

aReady.IOT
offers building blocks for IoT functions such as data converters, system and device monitoring, or a complete white-label solutions platform for OEMs to build digitization solutions that only need to be configured and parameterized to bring devices to the cloud and run a suite of IoT applications. Another option is to install IoT applications on virtual machines to complement the OEM's main application.

The most sophisticated aReady.COM to date.
Of course, a combination of all options is always possible. The aReady.VT and aReady.IOT offerings from congatec, combined with the ctrlX OS from ecosystem partner Bosch Rexroth, including access to the ctrlX Store, represent the most sophisticated expansion phase of aReady.COM. In this context, the ctrlX Store is a veritable treasure trove of applications. It offers a broad portfolio that includes PLC and motion control applications, as well as communication and engineering tools. Developers also have access to a wide range of IoT and cloud applications, including core functions such as firewalls and VPN clients. The primary target markets for ctrlX OS in the embedded computing segment are automation, robotics, medicine, energy/smart grids, and vehicle applications.
