It can be used as a standalone application processor or as a data pump in hosted systems. The device is optimized for remote control units (RCUs) that require support for voice commands and motion/gesture recognition.
The Bluetooth Low Energy firmware includes the L2CAP, Security Manager (SM), Attribute Protocol (ATT), Generic Attribute Profile (GATT), and Generic Access Profile (GAP) service layer protocols. All profiles published by the Bluetooth SIG, as well as custom profiles, are supported.

Measuring just 9.0 mm x 9.5 mm x 1.8 mm, the footprint is very compact and features a Dialog DA14585 board and an ARM Cortex-M0 microcontroller. The operating temperature range is from -40°C to 85°C, and the supply voltage range is from 2.2V to 3.3V.

IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) applications such as connected sensors or HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces) benefit from the PAN1740A's fast startup time. Furthermore, smart home and building automation devices, such as lighting systems, metering applications, remote controls, trackers, or smart home nodes, benefit from the new Bluetooth module's low power consumption.
