Particle offers three development kits that provide different connectivity options with the Particle Device Cloud: Cellular (Boron), Wi-Fi (Argon), and Mesh (Xenon):
Argon is a Wi-Fi-enabled development board that can function as a standalone Wi-Fi endpoint or as a Wi-Fi-enabled gateway for Particle Mesh networks. Based on Nordic's nRF52840 chipset, it features an integrated battery charging circuit, making it easy to connect a Li-Po battery and deploy your local network in minutes. Argon is excellent for connecting existing projects to Particle's Device Cloud or as a gateway to connect a whole group of local endpoints.
Boron is a development kit with LTE CAT-M1/NB1 connectivity that can function as a standalone cellular endpoint or as an LTE-enabled gateway for Particle Mesh networks. Based on Nordic's nRF52840, it features an integrated battery charging circuit, allowing you to easily connect a Li-Po battery and deploy your local network in minutes. Boron is ideal for connecting existing projects to Particle's Device Cloud or as a gateway to connect a large group of local endpoints when Wi-Fi is unavailable or unreliable.
Xenon is a low-cost, mesh-enabled development board that functions as an endpoint or repeater within a Particle Mesh network. Xenon is a mesh-only device designed to serve as the endpoint of your IoT network. It is based on Nordic's nRF52840 chip and features an integrated battery charging circuit, making it easy to connect a LiPo battery and deploy your local network in minutes. Xenon is best suited for connecting sensors, motors, pumps, valves, and data points of interest. Use it with Agon or Boron gateways to bring all that data to the Device Cloud.
