In the Internet of Things and M2M applications, these modules can be used, for example, to build maintenance interfaces and wireless sensor networks. The WE-ProWare firmware from Würth Elektronik, which has been tested for many years, makes the modules extremely versatile.
The Proteus-III leverages the capabilities of the Bluetooth Low Energy 5.1 standard and even surpasses them. With a payload capacity of up to 964 bytes, the module offers four times the performance of previous Bluetooth Low Energy modules. It can also establish connections in the newly introduced long-range mode for transferring data over long distances. A unique feature from Würth Elektronik: the Proteus-III offers a viable alternative to the Serial Port Profile (SPP) mode for serial data transmission, which is no longer included in the standard but is extremely useful for industrial applications. It is also NFC Wake-up and NFC Pairing ready.
With its proprietary Thyone-I wireless module, Würth Elektronik demonstrates the capabilities of the 2.4 GHz band: a range of up to 750 m and end-to-end throughput of up to 400 kbit/s. Simple configuration allows the modules to be used as repeaters or in a mesh network, if desired. WE-ProWare is an extremely versatile and easy-to-configure firmware with a lightweight yet powerful wireless protocol. If the transmission standards are already pre-configured in the application, Thyone-I can be easily retrofitted to, for example, ZigBee, Thread, or Wirepas. The Proteus-III and Thyone-I are available from stock with no minimum order. For the new wireless modules, Würth Elektronik offers evaluation boards, wireless USB sticks with integrated wireless modules, and user-friendly manuals.
