The PSoC 6 BLE Pioneer Kit (CY8CKIT-062-BLE) features an integrated PSoC 63 and is Bluetooth 5 ready, making it a powerful launchpad for IoT device development. It also includes 512 MB of Quad-SPI NOR flash memory and a Cypress EZ-PD™ CCG3 USB Type-C controller with power delivery. Intelligent power options are also provided, supporting a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery and a high-capacity capacitor that can be used as a backup power source.
Users can customize the user interface for their new applications using Cypress's CapSense®-powered capacitive proximity buttons, sliders, and proximity sensors, along with the included 2.7-inch E-ink display shield (CY8CKIT-028-EPD). This shield plugs into the Arduino UNO v3 platform's shielded connectors, simplifying functional expansion by leveraging the extensive Arduino ecosystem.
The PSoC 6 BLE Pioneer Kit contains everything users need to get their applications up and running, including essential software. A comprehensive Software Development Kit (SDK) is included, containing header files, startup code, and fully integrated middleware called the Peripheral Driver Library (PDL). The PDL helps users quickly take control of the flexible peripherals of PSoC 6 microcontrollers.
The new PSoC 6 microcontroller will soon be available from RS so customers can implement projects developed using the PSoC 6 BLE Pioneer kit. The PSoC 6 architecture integrates a 150 MHz ARM® Cortex®-M4 core and a 100 MHz Cortex-M0+ core to efficiently allocate computing tasks, achieving maximum performance and power. Active power can be as low as 22 µA/MHz on the ARM Cortex-M4 core and 15 µA/MHz on the Cortex-M0+, and dynamic voltage and frequency scaling ensure maximum energy efficiency as the load varies.
The devices also feature a hardware-based Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) that addresses IoT security challenges without requiring external memory or a protective element. The PSoC 6 TEE supports the latest security features, such as secure boot, secure data storage, and advanced cryptographic algorithms.
Leveraging the flexibility of Cypress's programmable SoC philosophy, the latest generation PSoC 6 allows designers to use software-defined peripherals to create custom analog front-end circuits (AFEs) or digital interfaces. The new devices also support Cypress's popular CapSense touch technology, providing elegant and fluid user interactions when required.
