“With SMARC 2.0, developers of highly integrated IoT and Industry 4.0 applications will reach the next level of technology in a commercially available, credit card-sized module with minimal footprint. The Starter Kit is an important component of our SMARC ecosystem, enabling a rapid evaluation of this latest-generation technology, which meets various IoT connectivity requirements. The Quick Starter Kit comes with a ready-to-use SMARC 2.0 module that provides pre-integrated WLAN and Bluetooth LE support. Additional connectivity can be supported with dual Gigabit Ethernet for cloud-connected devices, redundancy, or secure firewall solutions,” explains Martin Danzer, Director of Product Management at congatec.
Quick Start Kit Features in Detail:
The new congatec SMARC 2.0 Quick Starter Kit integrates the conga-SA5, a high-performance computing module for the low-power class. It features the powerful quad-core Intel® Atom™ x7-E3950 processor with speeds up to 2.0 GHz and Intel® Gen 9 graphics with 18 execution units. With 8GB of LPDDR4 RAM, the module also provides the latest memory technology. Another highlight is the inclusion of a pre-certified M.2 communications module supporting up to 433 Mbit/s WLAN 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth LE, and optional NFC. The starter kit also offers all the interfaces provided by the new SMARC 2.0 module. These include dual GbE, including hardware-based real-time synchronization, and therefore especially fast, dual MIPI CSI cameras, USB 3.0 and fast 32GB eMMC 5.0 flash memory and TPM 2.0 on the module.
The conga-SEVAL carrier evaluation board offers a wide range of interfaces, including four PCIe x1 slots, one mini PCIe slot, two USB 3.0 ports, and four USB 2.0 ports for general-purpose expansion. Two RJ45 ports for Gigabit Ethernet, four COM ports, one CAN bus port, and twelve GPIO pins are also provided. Displays can be connected via two LVDS channels, eDP, DP, and two MIPI DSI ports. Additional storage is available through an SD/MMC card slot and one SATA 6G port. Digital and analog audio I/Os for I2S and HDA complete the interface offerings.
The Quick Starter Kit includes an ATX power supply, the conga-ACA2 MIPI CSI-2 dual camera module, a WLAN antenna, an LVDS adapter, SATA cables, USB cables, and a cooling solution for the module. On the software side, the congatec starter kit includes conga-SA5 module board support packages for the entire Windows 10 IoT family and Linux operating systems. Getting started developing SMARC 2.0 applications couldn't be easier.
