The Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3+ is based on the Broadcom BCM2837B0 64-bit application processor running at 1.2 GHz with 1 GB of LPDDR2 SDRAM. Designers can now choose between 8 GB, 16 GB, and 32 GB eMMC Flash variants and a 'Lite' variant without eMMC Flash to meet their storage requirements.
“Customers tell us* that what makes the Raspberry Pi so attractive when selecting a development board is its ease of use. More than a third* of our Raspberry Pi customers use the board for professional purposes,” said Hari Kalyanaraman, Global Head of SBC and Emerging Business at Premier Farnell and Farnell element14. “This new version of the popular Raspberry Pi Compute Module offers ease of use, along with improved thermal performance and greater flexibility through multiple memory variants. Designers no longer have to customize their boards if they need additional memory, and they can bring their product to market faster than ever before.”.
Eben Upton, CEO of Raspberry Pi Trading, said, “With today’s launch of the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3+, we can now offer a full range of single-board computers and system-on-module products, based on the latest high-performing Broadcom BCM2837B0 device. The Compute Module 3+ is suitable for both makers and professional engineers, offering improved thermal performance, a wider ambient temperature range, more storage options, and access to the world-leading Raspberry Pi community and software ecosystem.”.
Key features of the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3+ include:
• Processor: Broadcom BCM2837B0 SoC with quad-core 64-bit ARM Cortex-A53 at 1.2 GHz.
• Multimedia: H.264 and MPEG-4 (1080p30) decoding; H.264 (1080p30) encoding; OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics
. • SD card support: The CM3+/Lite provides an SD card interface on the module's pins, allowing the user to connect either an external eMMC device or an SD card.
• Environment: Ambient temperature from -20 to +70°C.
The Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3+ will continue to be produced at least until January 2024.
The Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3+ is available as a standalone board or as a development kit including a Raspberry Pi Compute Module I/O board, Raspberry Pi CM3+/32GB module, Raspberry Pi CM3+/Lite module, and display and camera adapters.
