The flow demonstration kit allows the lifespan of measurement applications to exceed 35 years when combined with a 2600mAh battery. Furthermore, the flow demonstration kit is suitable for smart home applications as well as smart meter applications, offering system designers greater freedom to create products that meet their market demands.
The rotary flow demonstration kit detects the rotation position using the data transfer controller (DTC) function of the microcontroller (MCU), a type of state machine, while the MCU core is in a stopped state. This ensures that average power consumption remains as low as possible, with an average current (IAV) of 4.5 microamps (μA) and a sampling rate of 32 samples per second.
The flow demonstration kit detects the flow direction and volumetric flow rate of water and gas, and can also detect reverse flow. The demonstration kit is implemented using an active inductive method. Two coils are used to detect the rotational position of a partially metallized disk, and a third coil is used to generate a reference signal.
The Renesas rotary flux demonstration kit uses an electric motor to drive a metallized wheel to simulate flux. System designers can control the revolutions per minute (RPM) of the sensor disk by adjusting the motor's DC voltage. An optical sensor is included to determine the disk's exact RPM. System designers can visualize the data captured by the new demonstration kit using the Renesas 'e² studio software development environment, which includes an easy-to-use graphical user interface (GUI).
