Freescale's i.MX6 processors offer extensive functionality for a wide range of applications, including industrial, medical, automotive, transportation, home connectivity, security, and consumer. This unique design also addresses the growing needs of Internet of Things (IoT) applications, providing connectivity, management, and data visualization.

This combined solution delivers superior wireless connectivity along with industry-recognized, high-performance embedded technology. Combining the i.MX6 with WiLink 8 offers an easy-to-integrate solution at both the software and hardware levels. This allows designers to reduce manufacturing time and shorten time to market.

WiLink 8 modules can be easily connected to i.MX6 processor evaluation boards using generic SD/MMC card slots. Additionally, drivers and documentation are available for integrating the WiLink 8 solution with Linux® and Android™ operating systems, and third-party support is available for RTOS or WinCE solutions.

“Our certified WiLink 8 combo module gives programmers the flexibility to add connectivity to the processors of their choice. Working with the i.MX6 platform allows designers to add best-in-class connectivity to a wide range of applications,” said Eran Zigman, head of the Wireless Connectivity Solutions business line at Texas Instruments.

This solution, available through Arrow Electronics, also includes an RF test tool, a Bluetooth stack with BT4.0 and BLE profiles, and a kit that bridges the popular i.MX6 platform and the WiLink 8 modules. Supported platforms include Sabre, Solo-light, and RIOT.
