The family includes 13 alphanumeric and graphic display formats, with various backlighting options and development tools that allow for performance evaluation before integration into a product. These features make the modules suitable for portable measuring instruments, industrial equipment, and battery-powered electronic devices.

Compact and energy-efficient COG LCD displays

Chip-on-glass technology integrates the controller circuitry directly onto the LCD screen glass, reducing the need for additional connections and components. This design allows for thinner, more compact modules and minimizes potential failure points associated with interconnections. The EA DOG series is available in 13 different sizes, comprising seven text displays and six graphic models.

The alphanumeric versions offer configurations from 1 × 8 to 4 × 20 characters, while the graphic versions feature resolutions ranging from 102 × 64 to 240 × 128 pixels. The modules can be combined with backlighting in seven colors, including white, amber, and RGB, and support the integration of a touch interface for applications requiring direct data input.

Operation at 3.3V and consumption from 150µA

One of the main advantages of EA DOG displays is their low power consumption. Operating at 3.3 V, the modules typically draw between 150 and 900 µA, depending on the display size. This makes them ideal for use in portable devices where battery life is a critical requirement.

The displays also offer high contrast in bright ambient light, making them suitable for use in outdoor measuring instruments. Depending on the model, communication with the control system is via an SPI interface or an I²C bus.

DOG Simulator and 9780-4USB Evaluation Board

DISPLAY VISIONS provides various tools to facilitate the selection and evaluation of your displays. The DOG simulator, available free of charge for Windows, allows you to check the appearance of alphanumeric and graphic modules with different backlight configurations. Designs created in the simulator can be tested directly using the 9780-4USB evaluation board.

This tool allows you to view text and graphics on a real screen without needing to develop additional software or use adapter hardware. This way, engineers can test different configurations before selecting the final module.

Font editor and Arduino compatibility

The company also offers the USBSTICK-FONT tool, designed for creating and editing character sets for EA DOG displays. The editor allows users to generate fonts from Windows fonts and incorporate characters from alphabets such as Cyrillic, Greek, and Arabic. It includes a simulator to check the size and appearance of the characters, as well as a tool for converting images to BMP format.

The export function generates source code compatible with C and Basic compilers. In addition, DISPLAY VISIONS offers support for using most EA DOG modules with Arduino boards, including libraries, code examples, documentation, and EAGLE design files in BRD and SCH formats.

The EA DOG series modules can be purchased from a single unit, with no minimum order quantities.

DISPLAY VISIONS also highlights the long-term availability of the range and the technical support offered during project development.

With these features, the EA DOG series provides a solution for integrating compact, low-power LCD displays into industrial equipment, portable instruments, and electronic applications that require design flexibility.
