The AEC-6635 features an Intel QM57 chipset for 2.4 GHz Core i5 and 2.66 GHz Core i7 processors. It has an onboard 204-pin DDR3 SODIMM slot for up to 4 GB of RAM, as well as DVI-D, VGA, and DisplayPort ports. It also includes two Gigabit Ethernet ports for high-speed internet access, a Compact Flash slot, and a 2.5" SATA hard drive bay. The end user has access to a variety of I/O ports, including six USB 2.0 ports, three RS-232 ports, one RS232/485/422 port, a power interrupt switch, a reset button, status LEDs, a hard drive LED, and a power input. A general-purpose MiniCard expansion slot is also included.
The AEC-6635 supports a wide range of operating systems, including WinCE 6.0, Windows XP Embedded, Windows XP, Windows 7, and Linux Fedora 2.4. Wireless connectivity is also available via a WiFi kit. Its extended operating temperature range of -20°C to 50°C, along with its shock and vibration resistance, makes the AEC-6635 suitable for a variety of environments.

The AEC-6635's processor core also features a unique power-saving technique called HUGI to extend battery life while allowing the processor to successfully complete its tasks.
