Long-term availability is critical for components used in medical equipment. Electronic Assembly has been meeting this need for many years and has now introduced the new EA DOG series of displays for medical applications.
The EA DOG128 display, with its 128x64 pixel resolution, is a new addition to the product line. Seven different LED backlighting options are available. Combining these backlight variations with five different display technologies (transmissive and reflective STN, blue STN, and positive and negative FSTN) offers users up to 20 possible designs to choose from. All feature high brightness and contrast.
Designed for use in compact and portable devices, medical electronics applications, and more, this cutting-edge family of backlit and non-backlit LCDs offers several advantages:
- Extremely compact design: 68 x 51 mm with a viewing area of 64 x 36 mm
- Super slim: 2.8 mm without backlight, 6.5 mm with LED backlighting
- Simple 3.0V-3.3V power supply input
- Typical power consumption of only 320 μA at full operation (only 5 mA for white LED backlighting)
- SPI serial interface (4 wires)
- Quick and easy assembly: pins soldered to the PCB
The backlight color is selectable. Seven different backlight options are available: white, yellow/green, green, blue, red, amber, and a full-color version. All are very bright for excellent readability and low power consumption.
The EA DOGL128-6 modules also work with the EA TOUCH128-2. The 4-wire resistive touch panel has a self-adhesive backing and can be mounted directly onto the display. Electronic Assembly recommends a backlit display to ensure good readability when using the touch panel.
The various design options are available from stock in quantities starting from one unit, and availability is guaranteed for up to 10 years. An easy-to-use EA 9780-3USB evaluation kit is available to support application development. Electronic Assembly developed the kit to accelerate commissioning and help users become familiar with EA DOG displays. The screens are also available in other sizes and dimensions: 4 text versions (1x8 - 4x20 characters) and seven graphic versions (from 1.7 to 3.9 inches).
