Furthermore, each monitor can be equipped with an internal PC solution. “The new BLO-Line series is also suitable as an information and signage system in public areas with special fire protection requirements, such as exit and rescue routes,” says Matthias Holst, Head of the Monitor Solutions Division at Distec. “The monitors can be classified in the same fire protection class as a brick, meaning they contribute no more to the fire load than the walls they are installed in. We are the first monitor supplier in this top-of-the-line safety category.” The new BLO-Line does not require special fireproof enclosures. This makes the monitors more visually appealing, more cost-effective, and easier to install and operate. They are ideal as information displays in areas with strict fire protection regulations in industrial settings and public buildings such as hospitals, universities, schools, train stations, and airports.
Safety through optimal fire protection.
The new BLO-Line monitors are equipped with fire-resistant glass and a robust steel housing. "Thanks to the careful selection of components and materials, as well as their fireproof construction, we have ensured that our monitors contribute as little as possible to the spread of fire and smoke in the event of a fire," explains Matthias Holst. The durable monitors are designed for 24/7 operation. Distec optionally equips them with a high IP rating and an extinguishing cartridge. This small glass cartridge inside the monitor is filled with a special gas. When the heat becomes too high, the cartridge ruptures and releases the extinguishing gas.
Distec offers the BLO Line, a parallel offering to its previous fire-rated monitors, which are certified according to B-s1, d0. All monitors are optionally available for external control or with an integrated PC. Standard delivery is for horizontal mounting, but Distec also supplies all versions for vertical mounting if required. Each monitor comes with a certificate confirming its fire rating.
The fire behavior, i.e., the flammability and ignition of the monitors, was determined using the SBI method in accordance with DIN 13823:2015-02. The fire test was conducted according to the European standard DIN EN13501-1:2019-05. The devices not only achieve the highest fire protection class according to A1-s1, d0, but also meet and exceed all requirements in the fire tests: they are non-flammable and exhibit properties that produce virtually no smoke propagation during a fire, as well as no flammable dripping or falling debris. The display specialist pioneered the first BLO monitor in 2015.
Presentation at Integrated Systems Europe and Embedded World:
