The computer incorporates a powerful 8th generation Intel® Core™ i7/i5/i3 processor with an Intel® C246 Express chipset, as well as a modular design in a 1U chassis measuring 44 mm high and 350 mm deep. This new KISS ("Kontron Industrial Silent Server") version is a reliable and scalable solution. Thanks to removable drives and various expansion slots, the system can be flexibly adapted to customer requirements. The innovative thermal concept allows for 24/7 operation within a temperature range of up to 50°C.

The KISS product family meets the demanding requirements of extreme environments: thanks to its efficient cooling concept, the rack-mounted system can operate continuously in temperatures ranging from 0°C to +50°C. The storage elements can even withstand temperatures from -20°C to +70°C. Humidity levels from 10 to 93 percent remain unaffected. The mean time between failures (MTBF) is over 50,000 hours, equivalent to nearly six years of continuous operation.

The new KISS 1U Short V3 CFL runs Windows 10 LTSB or Ubuntu Linux and features two USB 2.0 interfaces on the front, four USB 3.0 interfaces on the back, two Gigabit LAN ports, and one DVI-D port. Thanks to RAID support, removable 3.5-inch SATA drives, and various expansion slots, such as M.2 2280 or a low-profile PCIe x16, the system can be flexibly adapted to customer requirements.

Kontron offers an in-house developed and manufactured 19-inch chassis that allows KISS systems to be easily integrated into existing rack environments. This provides a quality advantage over standard Asian enclosures: increased sheet thickness prevents distortion and improves stability. The material used is EMC stable in the long term, preserving its guaranteed EMC properties even under high humidity and high temperatures during continuous operation.

The system allows tool-free access for expansions, eliminating the need for time-consuming screwing and making maintenance easier and faster. Customer-specific adaptations, such as individual front covers, can also be implemented quickly and cost-effectively for small to medium-sized orders thanks to the modular concept, typically without additional non-recurring engineering costs (NRE).
