"This enclosure format is also suitable for harsh environments where high computing power is required," says Tom Seiffert, Head of Marketing and PR
at Shuttle Computer Handels GmbH. "The flat, 43 mm steel enclosure offers good protection against mechanical impacts and withstands ambient temperatures up to 50 °C."
The DH170 barebone, based on the Intel H170 chipset, is compatible with any 6th generation Intel Celeron, Pentium, and Core processor for the LGA1151 socket (TDP up to 65 watts).
Combined with 16 GB of dual-channel DDR3L memory and an
M.2 SSD with PCIe connectivity, considerable speeds can be achieved.
Despite this, the device measures only 19 x 16.5 x 4.3 cm (D x W x H), occupying a footprint not much larger than half a sheet of paper.
In addition, the DH170 allows for the integration of a 2.5" drive with 6 Gbit/s SATA and a Mini-PCI-Express expansion slot, such as a WLAN module; mounting brackets for WLAN antennas are also available.
External ports include a card reader, 2x Intel Gigabit Ethernet, 4x USB 3.0, 4x USB 2.0, 2x DisplayPort, 1x HDMI, 2x RS-232, and, of course, audio connections.
Like Shuttle's first two LGA1151 models, the DH170 also supports the parallel operation of high-resolution 4K displays at 60 Hz (via DisplayPort) and 30 Hz (via HDMI). Core i3 processors are recommended for this setup.
On the back is a four-pin connector that allows the device to be powered on remotely (e.g.
, if it is permanently installed and not easily accessible). If necessary, a jumper on the motherboard will enable the device to remain powered on continuously and start automatically as soon as it is connected to a power source.
The DH170 can also be used in various positions; e.g., horizontally on the desk or with the VESA mount included in the scope of delivery, mounted on various suitable surfaces and screens.
The available optional accessories are the WLAN kit (WLN-S) and the VGA adapter (PVG01).
