The new Simatic IPC547D Rack PC is compatible with its predecessor in terms of mounting dimensions, interface types, and software. For the same price point, the new model offers twice the computing power and three to five times the graphics performance. Designed for continuous 24/7 industrial operation in ambient temperatures up to 40°C, this PC operates without throttling, even at maximum configuration and computing power. A redundant power supply, RAID 1/RAID 5 hot-swappable hard drive configurations, and a solid-state drive (SSD) contribute to maximizing system availability and data security. The case's shallow depth allows it to be mounted in 19-inch electrical cabinets with a minimum depth of 500 mm. Equipped with quiet, temperature-controlled fans, the model is well-protected from dust thanks to its internal fan-controlled overpressure cooling system. Special hard drive mounts, card locks, and a power connector lock have also been incorporated as a means of protection against vibrations and shocks. The new PC is flexibly expandable thanks to one available PCIe x8 slot (1 lane), two PCIe x16 slots (2.0 with 16 and 4 lanes), and four available PCI slots for long expansion cards. DVI and DisplayPort interfaces, along with an optional PCI-Express x16 graphics card, allow for multi-monitoring with up to four monitors.
The new Rack-PC has various interfaces: two for Gigabit Ethernet with teaming capability and eleven USB 2.0 ports, two of them front and one internal with mechanical lock to plug in a software dongel.
