vPro enables inventory, remote monitoring, diagnostics, and repair of client systems, regardless of the operating system and without requiring on-site presence. Administrators can, for example, access the DQ170 even when it is powered off, power it on, configure BIOS settings, and run operating system images. Even when the operating system becomes unresponsive, hardware access is still possible to restore the system if needed. All of this and more can be achieved using commercial and free vPro/AMT software, or even a web browser.

"These special functions are very practical for IT managers of both small and large enterprise networks, and it's possible to easily manage multiple clients in remote and hard-to-reach locations," says Tom Seiffert, Head of Marketing and PR at Shuttle Computer Handels GmbH. "The DQ170 meets additional security requirements through TPM 2.0."

The DQ170 utilizes the current Intel processor microarchitecture, making it compatible with Celeron, Pentium, and Core processors using the LGA1151 socket up to 65 watts. The two SO-DIMM slots can accommodate up to 32 GB of DDR3L RAM. The two M.2 slots offer expansion options for, for example, PCIe (NVMe) SSDs and WLAN modules.

The 43mm flat steel casing is efficiently and quietly cooled by dual fans and a heat pipe, offers space for a 2.5" drive, and can be mounted horizontally or hung vertically using a VESA mount.

The safety of reliable operation even in harsh environments is guaranteed thanks to its ability to operate at ambient temperatures between 0 and 50 °C and its robust finish.
