In the compact 20 x 3.95 x 16.5 cm (D x W x H) form factor, the new variants can accommodate up to 16 GB of low-power DDR3 memory (1.35 volts) in SO-SIMM format, a 2.5" SATA drive with 6 Gbit/s, and an mSATA SSD in the Mini-PCIe slot. A WLAN module is pre-installed in the second Mini-PCIe slot. The exterior of the steel casing features two Gigabit Ethernet ports with Intel controllers, two USB 3.0 ports, four USB 2.0 ports, audio connections, and a card reader. The two additional serial interfaces and remote power-on capability enable professional use even in locations where the computer is not directly accessible.
For monitors and televisions, these devices feature a DisplayPort and an HDMI connection. Since the DS57U3, DS57U5, and DS57U7 have integrated Intel HD 5500 graphics, they can also play demanding content via DisplayPort, up to 2160p (4K) at a refresh rate of up to 60 Hz.
The new models can be used in various positions; for example, on the supplied stand taking up minimal space, horizontally on a desk, or with the included VESA mount, attached to various suitable surfaces and displays. All variants can be used at ambient temperatures between 0 and 40 °C.
