The high-contrast color display, measuring 5.7 inches diagonally, features LED backlighting and a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. Its most important feature, however, is the built-in intelligence that greatly simplifies the integration of display modules into the application. The evaluation kit, specifically designed for this display, makes development work even easier.
Electronic Assembly supplies the kit to accelerate the setup process and facilitate familiarization with the world of smart displays. It includes everything needed to get started, including an evaluation/programming board, an EA eDIPTFT57-ATP color display, a USB cable, a touchscreen, a connectable power supply (with international adapters), and a mini DVD with software, documentation, and macro examples.
The evaluation board has a USB port for PC communication. Interface cards with RS-232, RS-485, I²C, and SPI ports for host communication are optional but included with the kit. An LED matrix provides information on data traffic and the status of the digital display outputs. Two potentiometers and eight pushbuttons are mounted on the evaluation board to emulate sensors, switches, or relay contacts in the target application. The installation DVD contains a wealth of material, including development software, documentation on the various displays, and a variety of macro examples and design templates. No graphical programming is required. Icons are provided in the text editor font for incorporating other programs such as compilers, terminal programs, bitmap editors, and an editor for generating virtual instrumentation.
The touchscreen, which has audible confirmation for inputs, can also group controls on the screen to create a high-quality user interface.
