New features include expanded function blocks with safety functionality, as well as the ability to customize prioritization and timing. An additional level of protection has been added to the protection scheme to govern access to the S7-1500F controllers. Safety tasks are configured and programmed, like standard tasks, from the TIA Portal, benefiting from a unified usage philosophy. This simplifies the integration of safety functions into engineering.
The new safety I/O modules of the ET 200SP distributed I/O system are certified according to EN 61508 and approved for safety applications up to SIL 3 according to IEC 62061 and PL e according to ISO 13849. Like the standard Simatic ET-200SP modules, the safety modules are distinguished by a 50 percent reduction in width, the ability to form load groups without a power module, and simple handling, such as tool-free wiring thanks to direct-insertion spring terminals. The range of safety modules comprises models for F-DI, F-DQ, F-PM-E, and F-RQ. A unique feature of the F-PM-E power module is its two safety inputs, which are evaluable and can directly control the outputs. This allows for quick and direct disconnection of generator sets up to SIL 2/PL e using standard outputs and up to SIL 3/PL e using safety outputs.
The new Simatic S7-1500F safety controllers are based on the standard models with added positive safety functions. They are certified according to EN 61508 and approved for safety applications up to SIL 3 according to IEC 62061 and PL e according to ISO 13849. A single controller can now handle both standard and safety applications. For expansion, ET 200MP peripheral system modules can be added to the controllers at the central level, and standard and safety modules from the entire ET-200 range can be added at the distributed level. Profisafe devices connect via Profinet and Profibus. In addition to standard diagnostic information, the controller display shows specific data for the safety functions, such as the operating mode, the date of the last modification, and the global signature.
