In addition to a high computational performance of 1000 DMIPS, the Renesas RZ/A series offers optimal configuration for mid-range HMIs, such as those found in the white goods, industrial and medical terminals, and security applications. In these applications, the RZ/A MPUs optimize HMI performance and system cost with distinctive features such as one of the world's largest onboard SRAMs at 10 MB, 5x AXI bus, an integrated OpenVG 1.1 2D graphics engine, and a dedicated LCD controller that can manage up to two WXGA displays simultaneously.

The RZ/A series of MPUs delivers MPU-level performance with the same user-friendly design environment as microcontrollers (MCUs). The typical design process begins with selecting a specific MPU, operating system (OS), integrated development environment (IDE), and graphical user interface (GUI) framework, which together form a complete HMI system solution. While evaluation software packages and the development of the necessary software components and tools are generally free for developers, significant costs can arise during production.

Renesas Electronics now simplifies HMI, offering a complete prepaid HMI system solution for the RZ/A series of devices. This offer specifically applies to the production of TES Giuliani-LITE packages for RZ/A MPUs, FreeRTOS V8.2.3, and e2studio V4.2.0 with the gcc-GNUARM-none V15.0 compiler. The package license and production can be obtained via the following link: http://www.renesas.eu/guiliani

The Giuliani-LITE HMI prepaid production package is available for free commercial use in production environments. The "lite" version can be easily upgraded to the "full" version of the Giuliani software package.

TES Giuliani (www.guiliani.de/en) is a C++ HMI framework designed to meet the expectations of today's users for smartphone-like HMIs in large, cost-sensitive embedded systems. Being OS- and CPU-agnostic and requiring no expensive GPU hardware, it covers a wide range of cost-effective MCUs and MPUs and is an ideal complement to the Renesas RX series of MCUs, RZ/A embedded MPUs, and high-end RZ/G industrial MPUs. Giuliani comes with a customizable and extensible set of widgets and modern features such as wheels, gauges, animations, transition effects, multi-language support, and skinning. By default, the application of modern graphics processing functions, such as sub-pixel-precise rendering, anti-aliasing, scaling, filtering, and blending, combined with presentation sequencing mechanisms and intelligent caching, provides a visually appealing and high-performance experience. Guiliani's "drag and drop" PC editor and simulator supports rapid HMI design and prototyping, resulting in faster development cycles.
The prepaid production license is expected to become available in April 2016.
