Neither method works in the cloud: dongles cannot connect, and cloud activation is pointless. The CmLAN protocol, which allows access to licenses for companies with intranets, requires its own IP port. Wibu-Systems first announced the new CmWAN at SPS IPC Drives 2013, booth 640, hall 7.
The new CmWAN is an access tunneling protocol via CodeMeter over HTTP, so access can be granted without any special configuration changes. Protected software is operated in the cloud, and customers work with this software, whose licenses reside in the cloud, without any activation or dongles. Instead, a dongle or activation is only needed on the server to provide the license over the internet.
