The two companies will create solutions that combine Cleanwatts' advanced energy exchange platform with ABB's high-quality energy management technology, such as the InSite energy management system, energy meters, sensors, and electric vehicle (EV) chargers, among others.
The collaboration will bring significant benefits to community members, including lower energy costs through optimized consumption of self-produced renewable energy, reduced electricity connection charges with minimized energy peaks, and increased efficiency and performance of renewable equipment, including energy storage. It will provide seamless management of local energy use, control of assets and loads, demand response incentives, and access to energy trading opportunities.
“Working together, the companies will provide a joint solution that combines ABB’s energy management technology with Cleanwatts’ AI-powered energy trading platforms, benefiting communities and their residents in key markets,” said Laura Socci, ABB’s global portfolio director for digital energy distribution solutions. “This landmark partnership delivers the most advanced energy management optimization solutions, benefiting investors and managers across the energy community.”.
“We are dedicated to reshaping communities and industries toward a sustainable and efficient future. This partnership allows us to enhance our software solutions with ABB’s energy management portfolio, creating a seamless integration that will optimize energy consumption and drive sustainability,” said Luisa Matos, CEO of Cleanwatts. “Together, we will shape the future of sustainable energy, revolutionizing energy management and leading the way in the energy transition.”.
The partnership announcement follows a collaborative project between ABB, Cleanwatts and other technology partners to provide tools to residents of the smart community housing development in Brobyholm, near Stockholm in Sweden, to easily and intelligently manage their energy use.
