A penalty is established for excess injection of capacitive energy into the network, commonly called overcompensation, throughout tariff period 6 and for all consumers connected to a voltage higher than 1 kV, that is, those who have their own power transformer.

The penalty will be applied hourly to all capacitive excesses that exceed the limit of a capacitive power factor (cos phi) of 0.98. Expressed as a percentage, this means that hourly kvarC.h consumption must be less than 20% of kWh consumption, with a charge of €0.05/kvarC.h applied to any excesses, similar to the charges currently levied on inductive reactive energy excesses.

Period 6 always corresponds to: the time slot, from Monday to Friday, between midnight and 8 a.m., and 24 hours on Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays. It should be noted that this represents approximately 51% of the total annual hours.

During this period, active energy consumption is typically lower compared to other periods; therefore, the likelihood of exceeding the permitted kvarC.h consumption is significantly higher. Consequently, more efficient and accurate reactive power compensation becomes even more critical, making current measurement on all three phases of the installation absolutely essential.
