The challenge encourages participants to create a prototype of a smart electric vehicle or an intelligent system designed for next-generation transportation, addressing real-world challenges such as obstacle avoidance, battery optimization, vehicle safety, and system efficiency.
Five selected participants will receive a free kit of components to support the design and construction of their prototype or test platform. Participants will be required to document the development process through blog posts and share the final results. Submissions will be evaluated based on creativity, technical execution, and innovative use of the provided components.
“Intelligent transportation is evolving rapidly, and hands-on experimentation plays a key role in turning ideas into real solutions,” explains Andreea Teodorescu, Global Director of Product Marketing and element14 Community. “This challenge allows community members to explore emerging vehicle technologies, share knowledge, and drive innovation across the engineering sector.”
Some examples of smart transport projects include, among others:
Electric vehicle prototypes
Automated or parking systems with automatic charging for electric vehicles
Battery management and diagnostic systems
Speed monitoring solutions
Safety and redundancy systems for electric vehicles
Traffic management solutions
Sensor and perception systems
Navigation and obstacle avoidance systems
Candidates are encouraged to review the sample application available on the competition page to facilitate the submission process.
The first prize winner will receive a smart electric scooter, a smart bicycle helmet with LEDs, and a bionic robot dog.
The second prize will be a bionic dog robot, and the third prize will be an unmanned ground robot for off-road use.
All participants who successfully complete the challenge will also receive a 400A AC/DC clamp meter. Registration is open now until June 7th. Selected participants will have until August 16th to complete and submit their projects.
