Among the main Torex products now available at Farnell are:

  • The XC9276 series of 150mA synchronous rectified step-down DC/DC converters features output voltage switching with a very low-power circuit and PFM control. The XC9276 can help reduce the overall power consumption of a system by extending the product's battery life and has a space-saving, low-profile board mounting area. Typical applications for the XC9276 include equipment requiring high-efficiency performance with low load current and long battery life, such as smart meters, low-power RF, sensor modules, wearable devices, energy harvesting devices, backup power supply circuits, smart cards, and lithium-ion battery devices.

  • The XC9281/82 series are the world's smallest 600mA step-down DC/DC converters, operating with supply loads between 2.5V and 5.5V up to 600mA and offering extremely fast response to load transients. Two versions are now available with switching frequencies of 4.0MHz or 6.0MHz. The tiny package and smaller external components result in extremely low radiated noise and excellent electromagnetic interference (EMI) performance. Applications include mobile phones, wireless headsets and headphones, wearable devices, digital cameras/camcorders, video game consoles, smart cards, module power supplies, and various small power supplies.

  • The XCL230/31 series of compact step-down DC/DC microconverters with 3.0 to 36 V and 600 mA inputs are based on a synchronous rectifier design and incorporate an inductor that simplifies the board layout, thus reducing the risk of malfunctions and noise from electromagnetic interference. The XCL231 series automatically switches between PWM and PFM to reduce losses by lowering the operating frequency at low loads, achieving high efficiency across the entire load range. Overcurrent protection and thermal shutdown functions are designed to ensure safe operation in the event of a short circuit. The XCL230/31 series can be used in electricity meters, gas detectors, sensors, industrial equipment, and household appliances.

  • The XC6193/94 push-button charging switch with storage mode is a smart charging switch that can significantly reduce power consumption while devices are in sleep mode during transport, storage, or when power sources are off. It can also allow power sources to shut down if the system freezes. This can help improve device energy efficiency, extend operating time, and be used as a primary power switch instead of a mechanical switch. Typical applications include wearable devices, smart card devices, wireless headphones or earphones, IoT devices, various applications equipped with an on/off switch, buttons, or mechanical switches, and devices with a waterproof function.
