It is estimated that these three photovoltaic plants, which will be among the largest in North Africa, could be operational within a year, and that they will have a useful life of at least 20 years.
The energy generated will be fed into the Moroccan electricity grid and will help meet the energy needs of thousands of Moroccan homes. This will slightly reduce Morocco's heavy reliance on foreign energy sources, as the country currently imports up to 90% of its energy. The development of this project aligns with Morocco's goal of obtaining 52% of its total energy from renewable sources by 2030.
The solution developed by Ingeteam, known as Inverter Station, consists of Ingeteam's new dual inverters and their medium-voltage skid, a metal platform that integrates all the necessary components for low-to-medium voltage conversion, except for the inverters themselves. These components include the LV/MV transformer, its oil reservoir, the medium-voltage switchgear, the auxiliary services transformer, and the low-voltage distribution board.
The supplied dual inverters, belonging to the INGECON® SUN PowerMax Series B, deliver 2.55 MW in their 1000 Vdc version. In their 1500 Vdc version, this equipment is capable of supplying a maximum power of 3.6 MW in a unit measuring only 5600 x 890 x 2260 mm. This makes it one of the photovoltaic inverters with the highest power density on the market, thanks to its 317 kW/m³.
The medium-voltage solution delivered by Ingeteam for these three projects provides 4.66 MW, combining two dual inverters in each inverter station. These new inverters are suitable for outdoor installation and have been specially designed to withstand adverse weather conditions.
Furthermore, in Africa, Ingeteam is responsible for the operation and maintenance services of 230 MW across five South African photovoltaic plants. In addition, Ingeteam was recently awarded the contract to supply and commission the protection, control, and metering systems for three substations in Malawi.
Scope of Supply:
For these three projects, Ingeteam has supplied:
- 35 inverter stations equipped with dual photovoltaic inverters, LV/MV transformer, oil tank, medium voltage switchgear, auxiliary services transformer, and low voltage switchboard.
- Commissioning of the installation.
- Operation and maintenance service.
