The 28V battery with integrated charger (ICB) delivers 100 amp-hours while reducing the overall size of the required system. The batteries provide emergency backup power for UGCS flight functions and activate in the event of a power failure, enabling UGCS to conduct UAS flight missions.

“This continuation agreement symbolizes a mature relationship with an industry leader and validates Saft’s heritage of delivering complete energy storage systems tailored to each customer’s specifications,” said Alex Bynum, Director of Sales for Saft’s Space and Defense Division in the US. “We look forward to continuing to demonstrate the performance of our integrated charger batteries in a variety of critical field applications.”.

Saft has been providing Textron with ICB systems since the first contract was signed in 2010, and is working to implement this technology in other applications in the future.

Textron's UGCS is designed to be a joint services solution, incorporating a flexible and scalable architecture to meet current and future US Department of Defense and international requirements.

“UGCS incorporates features and technologies for joint service interoperability, mission flexibility, scalability, and ease of use—making it universally capable for the force of the future,” said Wayne Prender, Vice President of Unmanned Systems and Surface Systems at Textron. “That’s why we seek trusted partners like Saft, confident in delivering solutions—especially its ICB—that ensure our soldiers can accomplish their missions regardless of the circumstances.”.
