The VARTA Speed Charger is the new charger that uses GaN technology to offer a higher-performance design compared to silicon-based chargers. Gallium nitride (GaN) is presented as a future-proof alternative that generates less heat, reduces the product's size, and shortens charging time.
The goal of this redesign is to ensure consumer connectivity with a faster, more efficient, and more compact mobile charger, as it is 40% smaller than the previous model. Furthermore, it offers the ability to charge two devices simultaneously by including two types of ports: one USB Type-C PD and one USB Type-A QC.
The German company is also updating its VARTA Speed Charge & Sync cable range with different connectors, although all include a USB Type-C. This uniformity stems from VARTA's desire to adapt to the European Union's decision to position USB-C as the standard format for the entire market by 2024. The European Commission aims to reduce the amount of electrical waste from cables and adapters to ensure the sector's sustainability.
However, the main new feature of the cables is their two-meter length, a 50% increase compared to previous models. This improves user mobility and offers greater flexibility when using devices while charging.
Cables:
VARTA Speed Charge & Sync USB A to USB Type C.
VARTA Speed Charge & Sync USB Type-C for USB Type-C. Both guarantee a fast charging process and allow for laptop charging.
VARTA Speed Charge & Sync: 3-in-1 USB-A to Lightning/Micro/Type-C Cable. With this product, the company combines two of its previous cables to reduce waste and offer consumers a more diverse purchasing option. It's worth noting that this cable is designed for Apple devices (iPod, iPhone, and iPad) and has received Apple's MFi ("Made For iPhone") certification. Furthermore, VARTA demonstrates its data transfer speed with an example: it can transfer 20 songs per second.
Beyond modifying the charger and cable packaging to be 100% plastic-free, VARTA has increased the lifespan of its products by using higher-quality materials such as aluminum and nylon. Furthermore, it has opted for silver and black colors, which guarantee greater resistance to marks from daily use that could make the cables appear worn.
Availability:
The products are available in stores, hardware stores, and online. The price for the VARTA Speed Charger is €17.99. The USB A to USB Type-C cable costs €11.99, the USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable costs €14.99, and finally, the 3-in-1 USB A to Lightning/Micro/Type-C cable costs €16.99.
