The company aims to double its production in the coming years, reaching €30 million by 2027. Yaskawa, a pioneering technology company in the design, manufacture, and development of robotics and industrial automation solutions, has over 30 years of experience in the Iberian Peninsula, contributing to the Catalan and Spanish industrial fabric thanks to its broad portfolio of solutions. This year, amidst the boom in the automation sector and in response to its growth objectives for the coming years, Yaskawa Ibérica has launched a strategic plan that includes expanding its presence in Spain with a new headquarters. According to figures from the World Robot Report by the International Federation of Robotics (IFR), the demand for industrial robots and cobots has broken records, with robot installations worldwide growing by 10%, reaching 570,000 units in 2022. In Europe, the increase has been 24%, with Spain ranking fourth among countries with the most industrial robotics installations and among the 15 countries with the highest robotic density in the world, with demand expected to continue increasing.
In this regard, the new facilities will allow Yaskawa to triple its production capacity, doubling its revenue within five years to reach €30 million by 2027. New jobs will also be created, potentially doubling the current workforce. This new space represents a €3 million investment in the region and triples the size of the previous headquarters. In addition to the production area, the more than 3,500 m² also include a showroom and the Yaskawa Academy, a center for specialized product training. At the event, Laurent Bodin, Managing Director of Yaskawa Ibérica, emphasized that “the inauguration of the new headquarters in Catalonia and Spain is a milestone for us, as it allows us to continue strengthening our market position and respond to an industry that increasingly demands more solutions and is committed to implementing automation solutions for its production processes.” On the other hand, Bruno J. Schnekenburger, Chairman of Yaskawa Europe Holding and Senior Executive Officer of Yaskawa Electric Corporation, explained to attendees the pivotal moment Yaskawa is experiencing globally as a company, given the recent inauguration of Yaskawa Europe's new headquarters in Hattersheim, near Frankfurt. He also outlined the company's sustainability goals: to reduce its carbon footprint by 36% by 2023 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
The facilities, located in Viladecans, were inaugurated in a ceremony presided over by Laurent Bodin, Managing Director of Yaskawa Ibérica, and also attended by the Ambassador of Japan to Spain, His Excellency Mr. Takahiro Nakamae, the Consul General of Japan in Barcelona, Mr. Yasushi Sato, the Deputy Delegate of the Government Delegation in Barcelona, Ms. Josefa Beltran, the Mayor of Viladecans, Mr. Carles Ruiz, the Secretary of Business and Competitiveness of the Government of Catalonia, Mr. Albert Castellanos, and Bruno J.
