The new LEDs address space constraints in applications thanks to one of the smallest footprints on the market: 5 mm x 4 mm x 1.85 mm for the 6-pin ASMT-JC11 SOP package. Both devices can withstand a maximum current of up to 500 mA to deliver a high luminous flux output of 58 lm at 350 mA. This high luminous flux output results in more efficient designs that use fewer LEDs to achieve the required lumens.

“Our new 1W cyan LEDs allow Avago to meet the rapid transition of traffic signals from incandescent bulbs to more efficient and longer-lasting signals based on high-power LEDs,” said Francis Khor, marketing director in Avago’s Optoelectronic Products Division. “The ASMT-JC11 and ASMT-AC00 LEDs offer maximum luminous flux output in small packages with industrial-grade reliability.”.

The new LEDs feature an exposed heat sink for efficient heat dissipation and a low thermal resistance of 10°C/W, thus offering improved reliability throughout their operating life. The high permissible junction temperatures of 150°C for the ASMT-JC11 device and 135°C for the ASMT-AC00 device allow the LEDs to be controlled under harsh operating conditions, providing flexibility and reliability for lighting designs. The devices offer best-in-class electrostatic discharge (ESD) resistance at 16 kV, making them insensitive to ESD.
